The Modern Pro-Life Movement

The Difference Between The 80's and Now

One of the greatest gifts my parents gave me was being able to witness the way the pro-life movement has changed over the past two decades.  My mom and dad first got involved in the movement during “Project Jericho”.  The entire thing (as a matter of fact, the entire pro-life presence in America) was led mostly by Protestants.  If you’ve ever seen films of anti-war sit-ins and protests during the 60’s, then you’ve seen how it all went with us in the 80’s.

The Effects of Teenage Drug Use

Barreling down the dirt road in my SUV, (occasionally throwing chunks of dirt and gravel into the air as my off-road tires spun) I could see my destination through the leaves of the surrounding trees and bush. An outdoor light shined down on a stone patio just next to an outdoor building whose walls were only half built. Here and there, I could catch glimpses of the teenagers sitting in a circle there.

False gods Of Today

The approach to the first commandment in modern times would have us believe that money, sexuality, and other material things are the false gods of today. Historical gods, they say, consisted of statues and structures. People would sacrifice and devote themselves to these gods in hopes of reward.

Science - The New God

There was a time when the common man thought religion was mysterious. Not like a stone buried beneath the earth’s surface. More like the opposite sex…whether you’re a man or a woman, you can never really understand the other side. And yet the other side is never elusive. Men know what women want, and women know what men want…it’s just that neither can explain it. And we join in an arrangement so that we can better understand the other side (or one particular member of the other side). In this arrangement, we study and study. We come to understand more…but we always understand less.

The Controversial Catholic - Offensive or Not Offensive?

Reading today’s Catholic publications, it’s easy to see one thing. Every single one of them (well, maybe just the popular ones) revolve around controversy. To offend or not to offend…that is the question of the day. Some of them are careful not to slip into the controversial quicksand. All light and fluff. It’s like reading a marshmallow. On the other side of the fence, there’s a pack of wolves who know exactly where to step…and they step in something every time they walk.
